Scary Reflections from my FND Symptoms Diary

Retrain Brain and Simply-Shine - FND Symptoms Diary

I was keen to understand what was happening so I started keeping a symptoms diary

I looked out for patterns. What was I doing before symptoms started? Was it a particular time of day? I’ve included below an extract of that diary. It was really difficult to select which dates to include, in order to fully describe what I went through. However, in the interest of you not falling asleep, I’ve kept it as brief as I can.

Saturday 16th March 2013
Started personal training at the gym and felt ok, just a little tired. 20 minutes into the session I felt dizzy and spaced out. Sat down and drank water, very tired. Couldn’t sit up properly or keep my eyes open for very long. Shakes started in right arm-all of arm from shoulder. Violent shakes that would last maybe 30 seconds then calm down, then start again. Muscle’s felt tense. Shakes and over-whelming tiredness and feeling disorientated taking about 1.5 hours. Got lift home from the gym.

Saturday 23rd March 2013
In kitchen about 9.30am, not long after breakfast. Suddenly bit queasy and tired. No power in legs, weak knees. Helped to bed, shakes started. Leg violently started and then arm. Would also get violent one-off muscle judders and as well as ongoing tremors. After about half an hour I fell asleep.

Tuesday 26th March 2013
Long day-left house at 6.30am and back at 9.30pm, felt a bit achey-thought just tired. Noticed pain in feet (tingling) not long after it started, muscle judders started. Very little energy when went to bed.

Friday 29th March 2013
Slight pain started in hands. Tired. Muscle judders.

Saturday 30th March 2013
Managed hour of personal training-pleased!
Wasn’t bursting with energy but ok; hand started slight tremors but carried on and only lasted a minute or so.
Saturday afternoon-had stressful lunch and shopping trip with relatives! Started feeling dizzy and low on energy (legs weak). No shakes.

Sunday 31st March 2013
Rested most of the day-very tired.
Evening-1 hour and 10 minutes of hand continual shaking.

Monday 1st April 2013
Judders after woke up.
Violent shakes and judders going to sleep.

Tuesday 2nd April 2013
20 minutes of exercise at the gym, felt queasy and dizzy. Was able to drive home. Pains in feet. Took a while to fall asleep.

Out of breath on stairs.
A dizzy spell in the morning but then ok to drive. A few shakes during the day. Went to sleep fine-no shakes! (Listened to audio book).

Saturday 20th April 2013
Was fed breakfast and helped in shower. Had to cancel lunch plans. Low energy.
